Statement of principles
The Conseil national des chômeurs et chômeuses (CNC) is the driving force bringing together groups working in the interest of the unemployed, and more broadly, those of workers with or without employment. The basis of the Conseil's activity and action is geared toward the implementation of an equitable and universally accessible unemployment insurance programme that ensures dignity and respect for everyone by the assurance of replacement income during periods of unemployment.
The Conseil national des chômeurs et chômeuses believes in the core values of solidarity and sharing. Hence, it considers that the goods and wealth produced by society must be put to use for society's benefit in order to ensure for every person an existence based on access to healthcare, education, housing, and the right to employment.
The Conseil national des chômeurs et chômeuses believes that the proper functioning of society must be based on sustainable development that is respectful of its populations and of the environment, and by the same means, on democracy and a respect of differences.
The Conseil national des chômeurs et chômeuses is an autonomous group geared towards action and education and is based on the common will of autonomous groups. Independent from any ideology, organization, political party or place of institutional power, just as are its member groups, the Conseil national des chômeurs et chômeuses is free to make its own choices. Its cause is that of justice and equality; it's values are those of democracy, solidarity and sharing; its will is imperturbable.
The Conseil national des chômeurs et chômeuses is part of a project of social transformation. In this sense, it will forge partnerships and develop alliances that will be as wide as possible with other players in society, all within a perspective of international solidarity for attaining similar ends.
